Kanye West will continue to pursue his fashion career next week, when he serves as a presenter at the CFDA Fashion Awards in New York. According to the New York Post, West will present designer Phoebe Philo with the International Award during the CFDA Fashion Awards, which will take place at the Lincoln Center on Monday (June 9th). The event, which will be hosted by Anderson Cooper, will also honor Lady Gaga, who will receive a Fashion Icon award.
Former Bad Boy Records rapper G.Dep sat down with XXL Magazine for an interview in the June issue that details his incarceration on Rikers Island for murder. In December of 2010 G.Dep, born Trevell Coleman, walked into a New York City police precinct and admitted to a 1993 incident in which he shot a man. What G.Dep did not to know at the time of his confession, was that the man had died. G.Dep is now incarcerated for first degree murder. "When I went to the precinct, that was a real shock," G.Dep told XXL Magazine. "I knew I probably would have to do some time, or that something was going to be investigated. But when the detective came back in and said the guy died, it just kind of changed everything." In January, G.Dep pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder for the death of John Henkel.
Rappers LL Cool J and MC Hammer will team up with the Black Eyed Peas during a charity concert in New York on June 9th. Over 60,000 people are expected to attend the Black Eyed Peas' Concert 4 NYC in Central Park. The event, which is taking place on the Great Lawn, will benefit the Robin Hood Foundation, which is dedicated to eradicating poverty in New York. Other confirmed celebrities that will appear at the Concert 4 NYC include Whoopi Goldberg, Zach Braff and Jimmy Smits. allhiphop
